In June, Canada-based Warframe developer Digital Extremes tentatively agreed to a deal to have a majority of its shares acquired by a pair of Chinese companies, and today, that deal took another step forward. All parties have agreed to the proposed deal. When the transaction completes, Multi Dynamic Games Group, a subsidiary of Sumpo Food Holdings, and Perfect Online Holding, the parent company of online game publisher Perfect World, will own 61 percent of the studio between them; the transaction is valued at a total of $73.2 million. Sumpo is to get 58 percent, while Perfect World picks up only 3 percent of shares — but also the exclusive rights to publish Warframe on game consoles in Mainland China. The game is currently available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the West. Microsoft’s console recently came to China, and it seems likely Sony’s will soon follow suit.
