The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Foundation has named the five game development-minded students that will be receiving scholarships as part of the foundation’s yearly offerings.
This year’s beneficiaries each receive $2,500 toward their educations, access to a year-long mentorship program, and a complimentary pass to the 2018 DICE Summit and Awards show.
The 2017 recipients are as follows:
Randy Pausch Scholarship:
Maliheh Rahrovan, student at Rochester Institute of Technology studying Film and Animation
River Liu, student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Masters Program for Entertainment Technology
Mark Beaumont Scholarship:
Jess Adepoju, student at Stanford Graduate School of Business specializing in Entrepreneurship & Software Development
WomenIn Scholarship:
Camille Ramseur, student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Masters Program for Entertainment Technology
Griva Patel, student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Masters Program for Entertainment Technology
The AIAS Foundation annually offers scholarships for students interested in both the creative and business-minded sides of the game development industry. The Randy Pausch Scholarship aims to support students looking to work in art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, sound design, or music composition.
Its other traditional offering, the Mark Beaumont Scholarship, looks to provide funds to students working towards a career in executive leadership, law, marketing, public relations, or business development.
Meanwhile, the Foundation’s newest addition, the WomenIn scholarship, seeks to support women interested in a game development career through art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, law, marketing, or business administration.
“The global impact of video games reflects the makeup of our scholarship recipients this year – international and diverse,” said AIAS president and former GDC general manager Meggan Scavio. “Each recipient is looking to affect positive change and I have no doubt they will make their mark in their respective areas of code, leadership, education or world building. Congratulations to our Academy scholars!”
