Regé-Jean Page reveals touching note of support left by Regina King ahead of Saturday Night Live debut
King hosted NBC comedy show last week
Regé-Jean Page has revealed the sweet note left for him by Regina King ahead of his Saturday Night Live debut.
The Bridgerton star appeared on Saturday’s episode (20 February) of the live comedy series, during which he hosted the show and starred in a number of sketches.
Ahead of his performance, Page received a message of support from actor King, who hosted the episode last week (13 February).
In a picture shared on Page’s Instagram Story, the actor is shown sat in his dressing room with a note from the One Night in Miami director stuck to the mirror.
“Regé-Jean, you got next and you are going to be amazing!!!” King’s message reads. “I’m a big fan.”
Page captioned the photo: “Thank you @iamreginaking. The feeling is very mutual.”
During his opening monologue, the British actor leaned into the “extremely hot sex man” role he has become known for following the release of Netflix’s Bridgerton.
“It’s a bit of a racy show,” Page acknowledged. “And because of that, people may associate me being this smoldering, sexual smoke show. But I assure you, I’m just a regular guy.”
He then turned to a separate camera, adding: “I’m here to show you a good time and explore each other. Does that sound fun to you?”
Later, Page also appeared in a Bridgerton parody sketch, in which the show’s usual intimacy coordinator “had Covid exposure” and were replaced by the less than professional Mikey Day and Pete Davidson.
